Bubbles and butterflies were in the air at the perfectly set Kingston Maurward wedding of Alex and Jonny. A gorgeous, sunshine filled day in June set the scene idyllically as the backdrop to the stunning location that is Kingston Maurward near Dorchester in Dorset. The Bride and Groom took their vows in a picturesque open-air ceremony, witnessed by friends and family and assisted by three adorable flower girls; the Brides nieces.
After drinks and canapés at Kingston Maurward the bridal party continued onto Herrison Hall in Charlton Down, an absolute gem of a place and a relatively last minute decision. This was the most handsome of settings for guests to enjoy a traditional cream tea and games on the lawn before taking their seats in the carefully set and delightfully depicted reception.
Sprinkled with old photos, beer bottles on ice, wonderful summer flowers and an abundance of quirky and creative signage, the time and effort the Bride and Groom, friends and family had taken on the venue couldn’t be lost on anyone.
A framed ‘Let them eat cake!’ sat beside the pretty pink wedding cake amidst flowers and other perfectly chosen props, whilst a bucket of flip-flops in all sizes read ‘Kick off your shoes and dance the night away!’ The attention to detail was staggering and was well rewarded with the warm, welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
Emotional speeches lead onto Alex and Jonny’s first dance and guests loved their very impressive efforts (I can say this with confidence having photographed a lot of first dances!).
Flowers, sunshine and a warm glow of happiness sums up the day for me and I made every effort to capture this and every fun-filled nuance in the wedding photography – what a wonderful way to make a living!
Thank-you Alex and Jonny for letting me photograph your very special day, I trust you had a wonderful time on honeymoon and have settled into a very happy and long life together. x
