My style of documentary wedding photography

Completely Bespoke – my Style of Documentary Wedding Photography

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

So often in the hustle and excitement of your wedding day, every detail and moment you planned and worked so hard on, is over in the blink of an eye. My very honest style of photography is akin to holding up a mirror to your wedding day, a looking glass you can return to and admire over and over again. Classic, timeless and priceless.

Location, Location

My aim is always to photograph your wedding just the way you planned it, picture it exactly as you do, and to carefully seek out the character and the creativity that makes the day unique to you.  As a wedding photographer my Style is very much about making your day look as beautiful in the photos as it did in real life. I work hard to make each and every picture look the very best it can; this is very evident when looking through any of the stunning albums I have been lucky enough to create.

Just like your wedding day itself, your photography should be tailored to you and what is appropriate to your day. I am experienced enough to know that every wedding has its own rhythm. My skills as a photographer are enhanced by my ability to adapt and immerse myself in the natural flow of the celebration. I believe it is important to be flexible, to let the Bride and Groom dictate proceedings and to back you up with pre-emptive suggestions whenever needed. I work predominently in a documentary reportage style with the option of adding in some bridal portraits should they be required.

“On the day Howard worked tirelessly but discretely to capture all the special moments – we did not realise he was there a lot of the time!”

— Angela & David, Dorset

Why I am Different?

I am different because I understand weddings; the pressures, the timings and the very real human moments they inspire. I love catching the ambience and style of each day and telling the story as the day unfolds.

Although I do make a selection of structured shots, what really lights up my day is witnessing those unconscious moments that really reveal the magic of the day.

Am I Right for You?

That all depends what you want from a wedding photographer. If you want someone to take charge and coerce guests into various staged shots, then I’m probably not your man. Similarly my talents are wasted if all you really need is a point and shoot catalogue of events.

My ideal couples are people who have put a great deal of thought into making their big day in some way unique and representative of them and their love for each other. Whether you are planning a large traditional ceremony, a quiet country gathering, seaside retreat or rural celebration, whatever your style or theme, I can bring it to life for posterity.

“We felt like we had a friend taking the photos on our wedding day.”

— Holly & Ian, Dorset

“What you portrayed exactly reflects the happiness that we both felt that day. Our sincerest thanks and with every good wish.”

— Steve and Jan (Bride’s parents), Northamptonshire
